MISCOUCHE a municipality with community status on Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located in Prince County.
Founded in 1957, Miskush is located 10 kilometers west of the town of Summerside. Its name comes from the word Mi'kmaq, meaning "island of small grasses."
In 1884, the Second National Acadian Convention was held in Miskush, attended by about 5,000 Acadian delegates from all along the coast. The convention adopted almost all of Acadia's national symbols, including the Acadian flag. Because this historic convention was held in Miscouche, in 1964 it was decided to build the Prince Edward Island Acadian Museum next to the church. Since 1991, the museum has been housed in a much larger building (still in the same location as the old museum), and since 1996 it has been one of seven sites of the Prince Edward Island Museum and Heritage, a division of the provincial Department of Community, Cultural and Labour Affairs.
